Food waste makes up almost a third of our waste stream. Why not turn this waste into black gold by making compost? Composting is the controlled, biological decomposition of organic material. It is a great way to reduce waste and generate a rich soil amendment for your garden.
The District sells compost bins and Green Cones at most Transer Station locations and the District Office. The District can also provide free compost bin designs to residents wishing to build their own bin out of pallets, wood or chicken wire. Call our office for more information. Beginning July 1, 2020 the State of Vermont bans the "knowing disposal" of this material.
