Film plastics, i.e. single-use shopping bags, must be collected and recycled separately from other commingled recycling. They cannot be put in the blue bin with other commonly recyclable materials.
The following film plastics can be collected together, clean and dry, and returned to the supermarket or brought to any LRSWMD Transfer Station for recycling.

- newspaper sleeves
- ice bags
- overwrap for cases (toilet paper, paper towels, etc.)
- ziploc bags
- bubble wrap
- salt bags - TURN INSIDE OUT
- produce bags
- cereal bags
- garbage bags
- wood pellet bags - TURN INSIDE OUT
Paper bags can be recycled in the blue bin with other common recyclables. Make sure handles have been cut off to ensure proper recycling.
As of July 1, 2015, plastic is banned from the landfill.
