Anyone Lamoille Regional Solid Waste Management District
member can be a Lamoille Waste Warrior!

TNK AndreaPearlman

Lamoille Waste Warriors help teach people to stop, think, and sort their materials correctly before disposal. Proper sorting is a necessary component in complying to Vermont law and keeping recyclable and organic materials out of Vermont’s one remaining landfill. Through direct interaction with community members at various community events and transfer stations, volunteer Waste Warriors provide helpful tips and assistance to friends and neighbors helping them keep our recycling and composting streams clean.

Whether you enjoy volunteering behind the scenes as a blogger or prefer to be out at community events interacting with kids and adults, there is a niche for everyone in our Waste Warriors program! In addition, training will be provided to all Waste Warriors before volunteering. This year’s spring training will be held April 14th, 2018 from 9:30-12:00 PM at the Morristown Centennial Library.

All those who are enthusiastic about Vermont’s Universal Recycling & Composting Law and our Waste Warriors program, please see volunteer description below.

Lamoille Waste Warriors Volunteer Over 180 Hours

The LRSWMD is grateful to our Lamoille Waste Warriors who have already volunteered over 180 hours at transfer stations and public events since May of 2017!

The Lamoille Waste Warriors program was created by the first ECOAmeriCorps member to serve with the LRSWMD. The purpose of this program is to have community members serve as a materials management resource in their communities.

Waste Warriors have been spreading the word about the new Lamoille Soil residential organics collection program, helping people better understand what does and does not go into the blue recycling bin, and teaching neighbors ways to minimize waste through reusing and reducing!

Waste Warriors have the opportunity to get involved with the LRSWMD in many ways. They interact with LRSWMD members at transfer stations and at special events within their communities, contribute to LRSWMD programming content, and assist in promoting LRSWMD programs to name a few. Waste Warriors are also privy to insider materials management facts and operations so they are duly equipped to be a successful community resource as a Waste Warrior!

To get involved in the Lamoille Waste Warrior volunteer program, or if you are an event planner and could use the knowledge of some savvy sorters at an event, please contact Sujata Gautam, LRSWMD ECO AmeriCorps member at This email address is being protected from spambots.
